Situated at a half an hour drive from Ella, at the base of the mountains, is the gorgeous luxury eco-resort Jetwing Kaduruketha. If you are travelling southbound towards Udawalawe National Park, Yala or Tangalle, you would pass by this location on the way. The hotel is the Perfect place to disconnect. Located in Wellawaya, you will find yourself surrounded by rice fields and jungle.
What to expect? Detached villas spread around the hotel grounds, perfectly sized for a family. Ask for a villa with a view over the rice fields. Every villa comes with two bikes, which make it easy to move around. Breakfast is a-la-carte rather than the usual buffet. Quantities were more than sufficient, but it is good to avoid overeating. Similarly, dinner is a-la-carte only. Every day there will be a different kids menu for the little ones. The view from the pool is breathtaking, you are surrounded by greener than green rice fields, hills and jungle. We didn’t have time to try the spa, but the facilities certainly looked very relaxing. The child-friendly staff always welcomes you with a kind smile. You are encouraged to discover the area by joining the hotel organized local activities and excursions. Our favourite was discovering the night animals in the dark.
To take into account: Although there are mosquito nets and repellent diffusers, it is advisable to carry an anti-mosquito lotion at all times.
